His legacy
Luke Francis Our Loving Son and Brother
Luke was special in so many ways.  He was a loving son, brother, nephew, cousin, boyfriend and friend.  Never left the house or hung up the phone without saying I LOVE YOU.  He loved to laugh and make people laugh.  Always found humor in life.  Ice hockey was Lukes passion. He  especially enjoyed playing for MiddletownHigh School North Varsity team.  Luke goaltended for many different ice and roller hockey teams, including Middletown High School, Red Bank Generals traveling team and  recreation leagues. Our family had the opportunity to travel to many different places , Canada and  Lake Placid, was our favorite.  I always thanked Luke for the great times that we shared together traveling.  Luke, along with his teammates won several championships, awards, trophies, medals and honors.
Luke was loved by many and he touched so many lives.  It's so hard to believe that someone so full of life, love and loyalty is not with us and everyday we struggle with a huge void in our lives.  We're so grateful for Luke and we miss him so much. Life will never be the same. There is never a dry eye in our home, and our hearts are broken.  He is our #1 forever!!!!

Meagan's report about Luke

The person that is important to me is my friend Luke.  I met Luke on September 6, 2005 it was our first day of class at Brookdale.  We were in the same math class together.  After class he waited for me, and as we were walking to our cars he asked me what my name was.  For the first few weeks we spent our time talking on the phone and getting to know each other a little bit.  The reason why Luke is very important to me is because I have never met anyone who was so filled with life and cared so much for people.  Luke looked at life as something to enjoy having and he would always live everyday with fun and happiness.  Of course Luke had his ups and downs but he always looked on the bright side of life.  Luke's heart was filled with so much love and he cared for everyone no matter who they were.  Luke had a way of somehow feeling the sadness that others were feeling and would grieve with them.  Yet he never showed or talked about the sorrow he felt for others in a way that would let them think that life was about negativity.  I think he did this because he wanted people to see the positive in life.  Luke loved life because he felt that you are able to pick and choose how you want to spend each day that you live.  On October 30th, 2005 Luke was hit and killed by a train along with a friend Mark.  Luke was only 19 years old.  I only knew Luke for a short time before his death but, I always had the feeling that there was just something different about him, something special.  Luke and I stopped talking right before his death,  I don't know why.  Maybe in his own way he was preparing me for what was about to happen.  He touched my life and has left a part of his heart with all of us that knew him.  This is why Luke is important me. - Meagan Kane- 1/25/06
